Pakse was the jumping off spot for our motorbike trip on the Bolevan Pleateau. The town of Pakse, well, there was not a whole lot going on there for us—some good Indian food, a nice market, and the usual daily life of the locals. We rented a motorbike and packed a small overnight bag. Then, with the wind blowing over our helmets, we took off into the late morning sun. It was a lovely ride up and up onto the plateau into a new biome and cooler temperatures. We passed some small villages with specialty cottage industries—a palm leaf roof making village, a textiles village, and many coffee-growing plantations. The French, in their colonizing days began (?) the coffee growing industry here, and it has been reviving lately. With Kevin behind the helm and me sightseeing on the back, we made it the 87km to Tadlo. Tadlo is a very small town with just a couple of guesthouses and resorts, and not much else—not even the usual shops and markets. But, it has impressive waterfalls; three of them in fact, but we only saw the first two. For those of you who have seen Triple Falls in Dupont Forest, they looked like the lower two, but bigger! More water, more rock, and there were some sweet little bungalows ...
